Focus and Specialities

Counselling at Midlife

I typically see people in their 40s, 50s and 60s, a life stage with multiple conflicting external demands of work and home, including the care of elderly parents and being parents to young adults. This is often a time that raises internal questions and reflections.

Transactional Analysis

Through this approach I would look to help promote personal growth and change. With this, we would look to create personalised problem-solving behaviours for different clients. With the use of self-reflection, we will explore how one's personality has been shaped by their experiences.

Person-centred Approach

The core principles of this humanistic approach include genuineness from the counsellor, an empathetic understanding, and unconditional positive regard. Here we look to help one recognise their own capacity for self-healing and personal growth.

My Approach

My Approach

I believe that you are the authority on yourself and the person best suited to find a solution to any problem you may be facing. Together we will be exploring the issues at hand, so that we get a wider perspective of the situation and how it is affecting you now. I would need you to be invested in the process by showing up for sessions that we plan together and doing the homework we decide on.  Each person is unique and requires a custom approach to handle whatever we are struggling with. I promise to be there with you on this journey so that we can work to help you reach your fullest potential.

Experience

The approach I use is an amalgamation of Client Centered, Transactional Analysis and Mindfulness, developed over twenty years of experience in the field.

I made a career change to psychology with a Masters in Counselling Psychology in 2004. After this, I spent several years counselling and volunteering at the Rehabilitation Centre in Sanjivini Society for Mental Health. This period shaped my emphasis towards the Person-Centered approach.

Later I began working independently, counselling different age groups, from teens and young adults to the middle-aged. A few years ago I was introduced to Transactional Analysis as a structured tool for counselling and have been attached with the South Asian Association Of Transactional Analysis since 2018. I have completed my Diploma and am currently enrolled in the Advanced course for Transactional Analysis.
